Project

Although the social inclusion of third-country nationals (hereafter TCNs) has been a key priority for the EU and its Member States, persistent gaps in their access to basic services demonstrate that additional actions are needed to support integration.

AccessIN will contribute to these ongoing efforts to tackle TCNs' social vulnerabilities by focusing on four EU Member States from different European regions: Belgium, Germany, Hungary, and Spain. It proposes a series of activities aiming at identifying and reducing barriers in access to services via a transversal and multi sectoral approach that covers five core policy areas: healthcare, housing, education, employment, and social assistance. In line with EU's Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021 -2027, we acknowledge that ensuring inclusion for all and targeted support requires a whole of society approach. Our action thus responds to public authorities' interest in further improving regulations on access to basic services, while working closely with first -line practitioners, civil society organizations and migrants to enhance social inclusion.

Following this multi-stakeholder rationale, our activities target four beneficiaries:

  1. awareness-raising activities to inform TCNs about their social rights and the institutions advising in this matter (via "Know your Rights" Q&A Brochures and a one-stop-shop Migrant Info Kiosk);
  2. actions oriented towards service providers, to improve effective access (via training modules for capacity building on intercultural competences, workshops, diversity handbooks and leaflets, online courses on diversity management);
  3. cooperation with non-governmental actors, to equip them with skills to assist TCNs and foster peer learning (via Thematic Roundtables, Online Networking Workshops, a CSOs fair, a toolkit and CSO training);
  4. activities targeting policymakers, to inform about best practices and provide tailored guidance (via a Toolkit for Policymakers).
