María Soledad Escobar
María Soledad Escobar is a sociologist and researcher at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She hold a Master in Anthropology from Universidad de Sevilla. At the beginning of her career, she joined the Permanent Migration Observatory of Andalusia, a center belonging to the Spanish Council for Scientific Research. She is currently a member of the APREPINM project (Plural Councils? Political representation of immigrant population in Spain). Using the APREPINM database, her doctoral thesis analyses the patterns of political representation of women-origin immigrants at the local level.
Her work experience has focused on analyzing the attitudes of native population towards immigrants, the integration processes of immigrant’s communities in Spain as well as the levels of women’s political representation. She has also participated in publications on the evolution of public opinion towards immigrants, the impact of the economic crisis on the labor situation of young immigrants and the political integration of immigrant-origin women.
